Welcome to the virtual couch
About me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I work with women and teens ages 13 and up. I completed my Bachelor of Arts at University of Washington and Master of Sciences degree at Seattle Pacific University.
I have been practicing mental health therapy since 2006 and am currently licensed in both Washington state and California.
I have a passion for working with people and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be happy and thriving. My goal is to make your life easier and more peaceful by giving you tools to get through the more difficult parts of life that we all experience.
My Services
Individual Therapy
I practice therapy via telehealth on a secure video platform called Therapy Notes. I find that telehealth has many of the same benefits as in person therapy and offers the added convenience of being able to do it from the comfort of your own home, office or sometimes even your car! (parked, please :)
I will work with you in exploring problems in a supportive way and helping you find your own answers and coping strategies to life's many challenges. I believe that everyone at some point in their lives can benefit from therapy and that it is a sign of strength to be able to recognize when you need some extra help in dealing with significant and everyday life transitions. I am client centered and directed and work with problems as my clients define them and as they affect their lives. My goal is to help find real solutions that can be used immediately following our sessions.
Walk and Talk
Another option, in addition to telehealth therapy, is doing a “walk and talk.” Many of my clients, myself included, have goals of moving their bodies more and there are so many benefits of being outside. For a walk and talk, we would meet at an agreed upon location, within 10 minutes of 4 Corners in Maple Valley, and we would do our therapy session while walking, strolling or power walking. These sessions will be a little shorter than typical sessions, 40-45 minutes, so that I have time to get back for my next client.
Walk and talks are available after session 3 and will always take place in a public location.

Areas of Expertise
For both women and teens the first session will include gathering background information and exploring problem areas and establishing goals to be addressed. The session will typically last 50-60 minutes.
For teens, I prefer that parents are present during this session so that everyone is on the same page, but some teens do prefer to do this session on their own.
Subsequent sessions will be either weekly or every two weeks, for 45-50 minutes each, and will focus on resolving the identified problems.
It is important to know that children over 13 years of age have complete confidentiality in sessions, which includes from their parents, with the exception of safety issues. It is my practice to encourage open communication within families so I will do my best to encourage this with teens, however, some of my older teen clients do make the choice to not have their parents involved in their treatment.
